The world we live in is changing rapidly. This means our children are being exposed to a lot more than we did, and a lot earlier. Ontario’s new Health & Physical Education curriculum is supposed to tackle these issues. But does is take the right approach? We talk about parenting and dealing with challenging topics.

Salam Alaikum
MashaAllah! The imam handled the topic extremely professionally and with the sensitivity it requires.
I have a few suggestions: 1- provide workshops for parents in the masajids with the help of muslim educators and imams
2- use the passages from the Quran which address many of the similar topics that the will be addressed by the curriculum. This can be an opportunity to arm our children with the knowledge they need and to share it with the larger public.
I am a public school teacher as well. I can’t write more at this time but have ideas to make use of this situation a win win for all.
Thanks
