KINGSTON, Ont — One year after the Shafia murder trial was laid to rest, two bouquets remain tied to a warning sign at the scene of the ghastly crime at the Kingston Mills locks.
Twelve kilometres to the south, at Canada’s oldest prison, Mohammad Shafia is serving his life sentence for killing daughters Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, as well as his wife Rona Amir Mohammed, 50. Son Hamed and his other wife, Tooba Yahya, are also serving life sentences for their convictions in the June 2009 murders.
